As a globally renowned leader in electronic acoustics, Merry Electronics has embraced the vision of "Delivering beautiful sound to enrich human life." By integrating four core technologies—acoustics, software, wireless, and batteries—Merry has achieved numerous “firsts” in Taiwan over the past 50 years. Recently, the company has continued expanding into the automotive electronics market. Leveraging advanced automation, innovative manufacturing processes, and robust IT systems for real-time production monitoring, Merry delivers rapid, efficient, and customized full-spectrum services for international brand clients, from R&D to mass production.
Senior Engineer Liu Zhe-Wei from Merry Electronics shared that manufacturers often encounter several common pain points during digital transformation, such as the need to repeatedly generate reports every month, having to rebuild entire reports if the data changes, difficulty accessing historical reports, and complex data that is hard to analyze or integrate.
To solve these issues, Merry sought a reporting tool that would allow users to present data insights quickly and adjust reports in real time. They ultimately chose FineReport, which has increased the report production efficiency of their IT department by over 50%.
Liu also highlighted the powerful data entry (write-back) features in FineReport. Whether on PC or mobile, users can submit data intelligently—automatically identifying new entries, deletions, or updates. The platform also supports rich form components, complex data validation, and seamless integration with business systems and databases, enabling dynamic analysis based on entered data.
Although FineReport significantly improved report development efficiency, the IT department at Merry Electronics still faced an overwhelming workload. To further reduce this burden, Merry began searching for a tool that would enable users to conduct self-service analysis. As a result, they adopted FanRuan FineBI and launched a series of talent training programs, aiming to empower every employee to become a data analyst.
"FanRuan offers many free online and in-person courses, but expecting users to master all functions from a single class is unrealistic." To address this, the IT department provided one-on-one coaching to help colleagues apply the software based on the specific analytical needs of their departments. Additionally, they created internal online support groups and held in-person training sessions, allowing employees to quickly and collaboratively solve problems.
“Only with clean data and accurate report content can we achieve faster analysis. Once the data is loaded into FineReport, both IT and business users can analyze it directly via the platform. They can also manage project workflows right within the BI system. By integrating platforms through BI, we can quickly analyze data from various systems,” shared Senior Engineer Liu Zhe-Wei.
In closing, Liu also shared his views on AI trends. He emphasized that before AI can operate effectively, BI must first be used to analyze data and identify key factors. With insights, monitoring, and analysis powered by FineReport, organizations can then introduce machine learning to train models. Once this is done, new data can be used for AI-based predictions, helping engineers get started more quickly. This integration of BI and AI is the goal Merry hopes to achieve in the near future.
Once data is imported into FineReport/FineBI, both IT and users can analyze it directly through the platform. Users can even manage project workflows within the BI system, enabling fast data analysis and real-time adjustment of report content.
