FineReport Reduced Report Development Time from 2 Weeks to 2 Hours
Yu-Yin Cheng, IT Manager at King Yuan Electronics, shared that after taking over the IT department, she quickly realized the pain points of the existing reporting process. Simply setting the front-end syntax to highlight a cell in yellow took two weeks of repeated trial and error. The original reporting tool had an unfriendly development interface, difficult-to-understand front-end syntax, and lacked reference materials or tutorials. Additionally, it only supported Oracle as a data source, making report development time-consuming and labor-intensive.
As a result, King Yuan Electronics decided to search for a more efficient reporting development tool.

When selecting a BI reporting tool, King Yuan Electronics considered three key factors. First, the front-end visuals had to be easy to implement. Second, the tool needed to support integration with multiple data sources. Third—and most importantly—the report development process had to feature simple syntax to enable IT staff to get started quickly. After careful evaluation, the company ultimately chose FineReport by FanRuan as their new BI reporting development tool.

What Role Does FineReport Play in Data Processing?
Within the enterprise, data typically originates from various systems such as MES, CIM, and ERP. After being cleaned and processed through ETL tools, this data flows into a Data Mart. From there, FineReport takes over to perform data analysis and generate visualizations.
Yu-Yin Cheng noted that, beyond meeting the three key criteria for BI tool selection, FineReport offers a highly flexible and user-friendly interface similar to Excel, allowing front-end visual effects to be created without the need for coding. Its built-in data entry (form-filling) functionality also supports manual data maintenance, eliminating the need for a separate platform. FineReport further reduces operational costs by supporting conditional report scheduling and automated email delivery.
With a reasonable pricing structure and support from a local team in Taiwan—including responsive sales and technical consultants—FineReport proved to be a practical and efficient choice.
Since implementing FineReport, King Yuan Electronics has gradually migrated its existing reports to the new platform. These include weekly engineering yield reports, equipment component status analyses, layered test data analyses, customer product yield dashboards, and executive decision-making reports—making FineReport a powerful tool for enabling fast, informed decision-making.
