Omron Group, established in 1933, is a globally renowned Japanese corporation specializing in automation control and electronic equipment manufacturing. With leading expertise in sensing and control core technologies, Omron offers a wide range of products including sensors, switches, and safety equipment. Its business spans the entire process from product research and development to production and sales, covering both specific product components and comprehensive solutions and services.
In recent years, as digitalization has become more prevalent, manufacturing companies have been speeding up their efforts to embrace digital transformation. Omron Automation (China) Co., Ltd. is also accelerating its IT infrastructure, collaborating with Amazon Web Services and FanRuan. Currently, Omron Automation has deployed its servers on AWS. For core scenarios such as sales data statistics and reporting, it has leveraged FanRuan products to swiftly develop a range of practical applications.
Challenges
Performance completion is the key metric that management closely monitors when assessing business performance and making strategic decisions. However, in traditional data collection methods, statisticians often spend a large amount of time and effort organizing and analyzing data. This process is also prone to human errors, leading to repeated verification, which is not only time-consuming but also labor-intensive.
Also, the traditional offline methods of collecting and organizing data are inefficient and struggle to handle the large influx of customer information. Furthermore, they often fail to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the data. Without effective mechanisms for data centralization and integration, valuable customer information is often overlooked and cannot be utilized effectively for in-depth data analysis. Consequently, many potential business opportunities are missed.
Moreover, in the past, workshop KPIs were manually calculated using traditional Excel sheets. Even with Excel templates for each KPI, the process remained time-consuming. It took one to two hours daily to calculate KPIs based on production data, while weekly KPI reports required four to six hours. This not only consumed time but also resulted in lagging KPIs that couldn't accurately reflect the real-time production status.
Additionally, business personnel often have to wait for the IT department to provide data or reports when they need to analyze data. This not only delays business decision-making but also increases communication costs between business and IT departments.
Solutions
To address these issues, Omron Automation has collaborated with FanRuan to jointly develop efficient and accurate data processing and analysis solutions. This collaboration aims to better meet the data needs of both management and business personnel, thereby improving decision-making efficiency and business performance.
Omron Automation uses FanRuan tools to create visual monitoring reports, conducting monthly performance trend analysis for key regions, and automating monthly data aggregation. At the same time, sales data from various regions are automatically summarized and compared based on actual monthly achievements and annual perfprmance is automatially calculated.
With these visual reports, management can easily understand the performance of each region. They can then address areas with lagging performance by implementing targeted strategies to help those regions achieve their annual goals.
In the past, new customer application statistics primarily relied on offline processes, which made it challenging to centralize data and hindered in-depth data value exploration. To address this issue, Omron utilized FineReport to develop a daily data entry report for new customer applications, facilitating comprehensive analysis.
Now, data can be calculated and summarized daily, with the option for monthly aggregation. This streamlined approach not only allows for more efficient data management but also enables comprehensive classification across various dimensions. As a result, analysts can delve deeper into customer behavior patterns and make more informed decisions to drive business growth.
In process of data-driven manufacturing, a fundamental shift involves expanding data analysis capabilities from traditional IT departments to business departments. Omron achieves this by extracting data from various sources such as existing data centers and business systems, and then constructing models within the system. This provides business users with self-service query datasets.
As a result, business users can utilize FineReport's drag-and-drop interface for code-free chart analysis, without the need to constantly rely on the IT department for data or reports. Here are some examples of application scenarios:
(1) AMD Weekly Report:
The AMD Weekly Report provides daily data views categorized by department and industry. Additionally, business units can use it to statistically analyze key metrics such as weekly report numbers, feedback counts, and feedback rates, focusing on recent critical client reports.
(2) Channel Sales Report:
This report contains data on agent sales and customer sales. Business units can promptly access detailed data through the customer sales report.
(3) Customer Sales Performance:
Business units can query customer sales data across various dimensions within a specified time range. By analyzing different indicators such as budget, actual sales, and orders from the same period, they can track customer data and develop corresponding strategies.
